Chess in Wejherowo 7

Wejherowo, at the north-western end of the area, has a club with a full calendar. Klub Szachowy Sg1 trains three evenings a week at ul. Stefczyka and ul. Hallera, teaches children in mixed groups of different ages and levels, and runs a cycle of tournaments with names of their own: the Jakub Wejher Tournament, Kashubian rapid, the Royal Classic by the Cedron and Desperado Blitz. It also organises the town’s junior classical championship, played in late September.

The club’s tournaments have used the hall of the nature education department of WZNK on ul. św. Jacka, and the 1st Liceum hosts the autumn tournament of the neighbouring Bolszewo club. The Kaszuby shopping centre has staged blitz and rapid tournaments, one of them for its twentieth anniversary, and the municipal library on ul. Kaszubska sets out chess sets at its monthly board-game meetings.
